I think of my paintings as a collaboration between the camera and the canvas; both an impression and a snapshot that represent memory and cultural history. Inspiration for my art comes from a lifetime of travel and photographing. There is a narrative element to my work that includes cultural history and personal memories. Throughout my career as an artist, I have been interested in examining the boundaries between representational and abstract imagery. The context for my paintings is the relationship between color and forms. Ultimately, my aim is to join form and content along with considerations of color, shadow, cropping and perspective.
