Using multiple layers of thin, fluid washes,
I am exploring the characteristics and interaction of color and light in painting. I consider color and
light to be inseparable in my work. Shapes, edges, gestures, and the layering of the fields provide the structure in which the color is activated.
The closeness of tone and limited palette requires
the viewer to look closer in order to experience
the nuances - the seams, the melting and coming together of color. The concentration of all efforts is intended to create works that are simultaneously powerful and gentle, quiet but not soft.
