Statement
I have always been drawn to architecture and impressed that one could build large structures with the use of intricate modular systems such as the brick and tile. This concept has aided me in my work as a means to build larger pieces, covering large areas with small parts.

I am influenced by ornate, architectural forms and structures and the decorative elements that embellish them, such as the plant and flower. Plants and gardens alone hold their own organic structure; the organic structure within a single plant or blossom is, for me, a means to form an entire environment. Interior design elements such as patterned wallpaper, rugs, and fabrics are other important sources. My intent is to explore and merge these ideas, making use of my pieces as decorative, interior and architectural design elements.

Rather than creating a piece based on replication, I prefer to do this based on perceived essence, attempting to capture a sense of the tactile qualities, while letting the work flourish and evolve as I proceed.
