Gina
Fuentes Walker uses translucent materials as well as small and multiple
photographic images in her recent work to create installations that
respond to ambient light and reflect familiar details of her surroundings.
She
has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Massachusetts,
Virginia, North Carolina, New York and Italy. Her work is informed by
an academic background in anthropology and documentary media, and she
has been awarded fellowships and residencies from the Smithsonian
Institution, Chashama and The Bronx Museum of the Arts. A one year
exhibition and a site-specific video installation were recently on view
at Brauweiler Abbey near Cologne, Germany. Fuentes Walker lives in New
York City.
