In my work, I often draw attention to parts of a site that might otherwise be unnoticed or taken for granted. I do this through a kind of mimicry or replication of forms found at the site, often whittling them down to the most essential elements. This comes from a personal tendency to find meaning and importance in things that are considered commonplace or banal. I’m also interested in the various ways sites can and have been represented. Borrowing from art historical techniques such as crosshatching, relative size, relative density, perspective, etc. and found printed materials that use mechanical techniques such as color separations, dot printing and photography, I isolate and draw attention to the formal aspects of creating illusory space. Throughout the work, the handmade, drawn mark and the actual physical world sit together.
