My work has always used nature as a starting point. I am intrigued by the intrinsic characteristics of natural forms and less concerned with their outer appearances. In my paintings and drawings living units co-exist in a state of imminent animation - there is a sense that they flutter, breathe, propel themselves, extend, expand and are engaged in busy interaction with each other. Finally, each piece is a sensory and conceptual universe of its own and ultimately, a totally mysterious entity.
I find it a continuous challenge to orchestrate a combination of lines, shapes and forms to the ends of devising entirely personal visual systems that invite the view to enter into their often enigmatic ambience.
