Politics is greatly unsatisfying.
Politics is greatly unsatisfying. Even at it's rare best, pragmatic necessity demands that it destroy the individual, reducing us to a function of cause and effect. As systems are created and rerouted, we read about ourselves in magazines and newspapers, summed up in the vocabulary of the problem-system beneath the lens. Subversion must reclaim the integrity of the individual from these nave and destructive constructs, exposing their flimsy structures. I believe the spectrum of participation needs individuals whose decided contribution is this subversion. To this I am committed. This is an aesthetic choice. My work reflects these ideals. It reclaims a bit of power from those who would wield it. It examines ideology and pits it against itself - reminding me that the constructs, the people, and the feelings from which it is born could, in fact, stand to be reconsidered.
