Overview of the work of Steven Miller
Steven Miller was trained in the 19th century French Academic tradition, whereupon he painted landscapes and the figure. Although Steven Miller was classically trained, it was his interest in science and photography which led him to investigate photo-electron photography. Miller's next body of work came from these scientific images combined with his interest in the human form. Miller made hundreds of preparatory drawings which he later composed into larger abstract works. In the spring of 2002 Miller showcased his works at the Milan's womens collections. His work was filmed and projected in a "Sensorium" while the models strutted the catwalks and dj's played music. Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and the European press loved the mix of the artworld colliding with fashion and music. Miller then developed a body of work in recation to the events of 9/11. These paintings had a severely limited palette and very simple shapes. He entitled this series of paintings "Ghost World". His next series was entitled "Celestial Happiness" where he enlarged his palette and returned to more sensuous shapes. Currently he is at work on a new as yet untitled series involving intricate layerings of shape and color on a larger format. Miller lives in NYC where he maintains a studio. His work has appeared on the tv shows "Frasier" and "Sex in The City", and in several major Hollywood films, most recently in Uma Thurman's "My Super-Ex Girlfriend". His work is in many private and public collections in the United States, Europe and Asia. He has exhibited in NY, LA, Chicago, London, Berlin, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Cologne, Tokyo and Amsterdam.  He has upcoming one man shows scheduled in 2013 in CT, LA and NYC.  Please contact:  steven.miller286@gmail.com for additional information.
