How does a straight line feel?
How does a straight line feel? It feels, as I suppose it looks straight-- a dull thought drawn out endlessly. It is unstraight lines, or many straight and curved lines together, that are eloquent to the touch, They appear and disappear, are now deep, now shallow, now broken off or lengthened or swelling. They rise and sink beneath my fingers, they are full of sudden starts and pause, and their variety is inexhaustible and wonderful. --Helen Keller. The intention of my work is to create space-a painting seen as a window on the wall that the viewer can escape into. An idea of the Renaissance combined with modern non-objective abstraction. Process, seductive materials and a tendency toward reductive approaches drive me. My palette is limited to 2-3 colors and my compositions are loosely based grids. Within these restrictions I find endless possibilities. My aim is to achieve complexity in the simplest way possible.
