"A shape, a color, a vision of a thin line in space; three red buttons on a table or a crushed object in the street—any of these can be a beginning point for me to make a painting.
Working within a minimalist aesthetic on a variety of painting surfaces, my work focuses on how colors such cadmium red (intense), nickel titanium yellow (pale with a touch of acid) or the beige disappearing translucence of sized rice paper—can convey depth.
It has always been my hope that the work I make provides a place of calm
in our increasingly frenetic world. And if, in the process of looking at my work, the viewer also finds humor, that is because it was intended.”
