At a certain point, I became conscious of an extreme
duality, of things not always being what they appeared. The difference between
real and unreal became unclear. Artistically, this was a defining moment.
Boundaries in life are often unclear. My work originates in this darkly
humorous, inappropriate place.
I make sculpture, installations and photographs by the
combining of many dissimilar elements. These have included fur, knitted yarn,
clay, glass beads, hair and newspaper. The use of different mediums for me mirrors certain qualities of life:
changeable and always in motion.
My work presents an intentionally fragmented narrative. Each
piece stands alone but also exists as part of the larger thread.I am interested in objects and images
that exist both as framework and metaphor, like bone beneath skin, and the
truths that can ultimately be seen to intersect or to lie beneath what is defined
as “most real”
