My practice centres around the activity of drawing. Drawing is understood as a way of following the contours of thought and circumstance. My conception of drawing is not limited to a particular medium or mode. It moves between a variety of public and private processes using text, photography, pencil, paint, workshops and curating. Pencil and paper remains at the core of my practice and through the simplicity of this medium I have found a rich language of immediacy and distance. In my paintings and mixed-media work intensity is found on a surface through the private process of wrestling an image from an accumulation of layers. Through interventions and workshops I open my practice to a public context through which the performative and the participatory can be explored. My curatorial projects create the possibilities for conversations and collaborations with other artists through open concept and shared context.
