As an artist I like to view everything from an inquisitive eye, breaking them down into segments of form and color, and embrace their presence around me. As living beings, we need to feel what is around us and value its shared existence. I believe the world is straying from that notion and ultimately harming the natural balance. In my art I try to bring that back, but also reinforce community by creating a shared experience between myself, the canvas, the paint, and the viewer. Painting is like a dialogue that can be spoken across time and space, yet both parties can sense each other's presence. That's how I feel when I paint, I am communicating with the viewer, who has not yet seen the piece, but also with my self, my subconscious, and my inner most feelings.
