Artist and experimental filmmaker James Sexton Tully exhibited work at the Whitney Museum, and MoMA PS1 in New York.
Tully lives and works in New York City and Los Angeles. His education includes bachelor degrees in Fine Art (studio program) and English Literature from Georgetown University, Washington, DC. He was the recipient of Geico's Kreeger Prize in printmaking.
The artist is perhaps best known for 'Stylized Banalities', a semi-narrative film screened at New York's Whitney Museum as a commentary of the 'Warhol Look' exhibition. Tully also participated in the seminal group show 'Generation Z' at PS1/MoMA in New York. A series of his 'blackboard paintings' were featured at the Chelsea Art Museum in a solo show in 2005.
Currently Tully is touring with 'Drudgery', a three-gun film and video installation featuring Tully himself as Doc Cyrus, along with psychoanalystic subjects Taylor Mead, Billy Leroy, Anthony Haden-Guest, and twins Penelope & Gunther Palmer.
