I allow my work to evolve or devolve till it generates surprising results. In general, however, my methodology is definite and specific. The paintings are made by troweling cement over canvas. After surface preparation and transformation, one forgets for a moment its origin, banality and complexity. The object is to realize the power and beauty of a simple image. Newer pieces are inspired by recent advances in warped geometry, the uncertainty principle and other mundane or topical concerns. I deploy nonart materials to challenge conventional practice and perception of elegance. Place, space, time, behavior and identity are explored.
